Audio Story Final (Blog 4) Blog Introduction This blog is about the multi-faceted world of conspiracy theories. It explores how conspiracy theories can cause you to question what you know and what you might not know. This blog showcases expert opinion as well as student commentary on this topic. This blog shows how with conspiracy theories there is a constant cycle of a claim, refute, counterclaim, and then follows confusion, questioning, and them the big “Well, I don’t really know anymore.” And with all of the blog’s content, it encourages its listeners to never stop questioning because questioning might not be a bad thing after all!   Reminder & Summary              The theme of my podcast is about conspiracy theories and their complexity that can cause you to question what you know and what you might not know. I have learned about a new conspiracy theory: that humans evolved from werewolves. I learned more about how people formulate these theories; they either suspect something about a situation, deduct something from a situation, or just make something up. I also learned about the growing number of conspiracy theories that are turning out to be true, like the activity of Jeffrey Epstein that my expert and I discussed. I learned that with conspiracy theories there is a constant cycle of a claim, refute, counterclaim, and then follows confusion, questioning, and them the big “Well, I don’t really know anymore.”   My notes from Professor Heagney’s lecture on February 16 th  that dealt with audio editing along with Adobe’s article on editing an...

Expert Introduction My expert on conspiracy theories is Professor Brian Heagney, an instructor of game design at High Point University. He is a conspiracy theory enthusiast! He loves to hear new points of view and various theories about the whereabouts of certain events, people, and places. Because of his deep interest in conspiracy theories and his research of them, I, therefore, consider him an expert for this assignment.   Technical Summarization Using the “Arrange and Edit Multitrack Clips with Audition” tutorial (Adobe, 2021), I was able to cut, copy, and rearrange small snippets and clips of my long, unedited interview to formulate my shortened and edited interview. I used the time selection tool to highlight the portion that I wanted to make a separate clip, changed to the move tool, copied the highlighted area, and pasted the new clip to the next track. I then formulated all the mini clips into a new track. Also, for one of my clips, my expert was excited in ...

Conspiracy Theories (Blog 1) Blog Introduction This blog is about the controversial topic of conspiracy theories. The world of conspiracy theories and the people who engage in it are frowned upon and deemed weird. But I wanted to explore a topic that is interesting and is multi-faceted. And with the many states and countries represented in the High Point University student body, I was interested to hear the array of conspiracy theories that students had heard based on the geographical locations and domestic backgrounds. For my on-the-street interviews, I did not interview any experts, but I hope to interview an expert once I figure out the direction of the audio story based on the interviews from this blog assignment.   Breakdown of Sound and Music Choices One idea for natural sound (Frechette, 2014) is the soothing sound of one of the many fountains here on campus. For ambient sounds (Frechette, 2014), I would like to conduct my expert interview in a communal area like a l...
