Conspiracy Theories (Blog 1)
Conspiracy Theories (Blog 1)
Blog Introduction
This blog is about the controversial topic of
conspiracy theories. The world of conspiracy theories and the people who engage
in it are frowned upon and deemed weird. But I wanted to explore a topic that
is interesting and is multi-faceted. And with the many states and countries
represented in the High Point University student body, I was interested to hear
the array of conspiracy theories that students had heard based on the
geographical locations and domestic backgrounds. For my on-the-street
interviews, I did not interview any experts, but I hope to interview an expert
once I figure out the direction of the audio story based on the interviews from
this blog assignment.
Breakdown of Sound and Music Choices
One idea for natural sound (Frechette, 2014) is the soothing sound of
one of the many fountains here on campus. For ambient sounds (Frechette, 2014), I would like to
conduct my expert interview in a communal area like a lobby or restaurant to
pick up some of the surrounding sounds of people conversing in their natural
state. I would also like to conduct my interview in one of the gardens on
campus so you can hear the ambient sounds (Frechette, 2014) like the chirping of the birds. I would
also add mysterious background music (Frechette, 2014) that helps tie into the theme of “mystery”
and “conspiracy.” I want the background music to complete the experience that
the listeners will receive when reading my audio story.
Reflection on Personal Experience with Adobe
Audition
Editing the public interview clips that I gathered was
a new experience. I was pretty nervous because I am somewhat of a
perfectionist, and I wondered if I would produce an excellent product with me
learning something new. Even though I watched and read all the tutorials you
assigned, Adobe Audition was foreign to me. But I decided on this past Monday,
our day off, that I had ample time to dedicate to gathering the interviews and
begin to edit them. I went to the Mac Lab in the NQSC and began to navigate my
way around the Mac and get a feel for all the shortcuts that are pretty different
from the PC’s and Windows laptops I have worked on for most of my life. And as
I began to start importing clips and editing them, I gradually became
increasingly comfortable with the software and the computer. I am interested in
learning more about the software and sharpening my editing ability.
